Biography
Dr. Jelena Dinić is a Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade. She obtained her BSc degree in Molecular biology and physiology from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2004. She obtained her PhD in Cell Biology at the Department of Cell Biology, Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University in Sweden, in 2011. Since 2012, Dr. Jelena Dinić has been employed at the Department of Neurobiology, Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković”. She has been promoted to Principal Research Fellow in 2023. Her research interests are focused on the mechanisms of multidrug resistance in cancer and the development of small molecules that target these mechanisms. She currently participates in the project “Functional diagnostics in non-small cell lung carcinoma – a new concept for the improvement of personalized therapy in Serbian patients” (TargetedResponse, #7739737, Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia – Program IDEAS), the strategic project of the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts “Biomedical potential of diterpenes newly isolated from latex of milkweeds (Euphorbia L.) wild-growing in Serbia” (MilkIng), and the SAIGE Proof of Concept project “Innovative hybrid compounds of sclareol and doxorubicin as a new antitumor strategy in glioblastoma therapy” (SCLarDOXInn). In addition to the national project “Identification of predictive molecular markers for cancer progression, response to therapy and disease outcome” #III41031, Dr. Jelena Dinić also participated in several international projects and European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) actions. She supervised one doctoral dissertation and two master’s theses. She is the author of over 60 peer-reviewed papers mainly in top international journals with over 2100 citations (ORCID 0000-0003-3371-2381, Scopus Author ID 53986060400), several book chapters, journal guest editor, lecturer and author of abstracts at numerous international and national conferences. She was a member of scientific and organizing committees of international conferences, as well as the coordinating bodies of three COST actions. She is a member of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), the Serbian Association for Cancer Research (SDIR), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the Serbian Neuroscience Society (DNS), and the Serbian Biological Society (SBS).
