Biography
Ivana Banićević, a junior research associate at FTM, obtained her BSc and MSc degrees in chemical technology at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, University of Montenegro in 2017 and 2020, respectively. During her master’s studies, she spent several months at Keele University in Great Britain. In 2020, she enrolled in doctoral studies in chemical engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade under the supervision of Prof. dr Bojana Obradović, full professor at FTM and Prof. dr Mauro Alini, research advisor emeritus at AO Institute Davos, Switzerland and associate professor at McGill University in Canada. She submitted the topic of her doctoral thesis titled „Biomimetic bioreactor systems as physiologically relevant environments“ in May 2023.
Since December 2020. Ivana Banićević has been employed at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade as a junior research associate. She worked as an early-stage researcher in the international project “Precision medicine for muscoloskeletal regeneration, prosthetics and active ageing — PREMUROSA” (grant no. 860462, 2020-2024) funded by Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions – Innovative Training Networks under European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovative programme. During her doctoral studies, she was involved in teaching activities in the courses Chemical Engineering Lab, Fluid Mechanics and Chemical Engineering within the study programme chemical engineering. Throughout her research, Ivana was focused on developing a three-dimensional (3D) bone model based on the application of biomaterials and a perfusion bioreactor which is also the topic of her doctoral thesis. Ivana Banićević participated in six international schools and various workshops and seminars organized by European projects PREMUROSA and ExcellMater (grant no. 952033).
